The company began under Swedish-born Julius Nelson, his brother Carl, and a group of associates that included John Pahn and John Swenson. Sadly Darren had to pass this amazing opportunity and alternatively studied electrical engineering at City & Islington College, London and later enrolled at the Leeds College of Music to study Commercial Music, Production & Management once placements became available the following year.Īfter his studies, Darren returned to London in pursuit of audio related work, he landed a runners position with Coldcuts Ninja Tune records and later an office assistants role for Howie B's, Pussyfoot records. Shortly after he secured his first weekly residency at club Catch-22 in Old Street East London, where he played an eclectic mix of Electro House, Breakbeat to Drum'n'Bass for a small but regular crowd of followers. After some time with both record labels, Darren was regularly booked to support various London Djs at professionally promoted club events or securing weekly residencies himself or promoting his own successful club events, SoulSonic and Turn-ON with fellow Italian, Dj Deep “S” from there he also started working as an audio & visual engineer.ĭarren went on to work full-time for two major film post production studio facilities in central London. Noticing this desire Darren was gifted his first electric guitar with a small Marshall amp by his uncle. As time passed Darren jammed with friends one of which included Joel Renbourn son of folk guitar legend, John Renbourn of the 60’ & 70’s band Pentangle. The pair would jam most days and come to play live at the odd local pub with other musicians.ĭarrens fascination with the audio technology that emerged during the late 80’s into the 90’s was overwhelming his desire to play guitar. With a staple diet of Rhythm & Blues, Funk’n’Soul, and Disco from his mother an avid collector of vinyl, to the Blues, Folk and Heavy Rock of his father's collection. Darren then yearned to play along with his favourite albums. Inspired by his uncle, Jon Machin a guitarist and music producer throughout the late 60’s and into the 90’s.Īs a youth, Darren would browse his parent's record collection in search of music to stir his heart and soul.
